MK Blinds V9.8.1 - The update to fix all bugs

#1

Hey all,
I’ve been using these blinds for a while now. MK has shut up shop (surprised the site is even still live), and Mountain Eagle hasn’t updated in years — but the blind system and its software live on.

I’ve had ongoing issues with the software crashing and the UI hanging. Mountain made some great updates along the way, like running two servos off the same board, but the general workflow was: let it do its thing, wait for it to crash, reflash, hope for the best, and sometimes even swap out the board.

Hopefully that’s all fixed now. When it crashed over the weekend, I threw Claude at it, and it picked up a lot of the underlying issues causing the hangs. A few hours of problem solving later, we’ve got version 9.8.

The full changelog is in the repo, but it’s mostly bug fixes:

How to update (super simple):

Go to Releases on the GitHub page (right-hand side)
Download mk-blindcontrol.bin
Open the Web UI of your blind control unit
Click Firmware
Go to Manual → Choose File → select mk-blindcontrol.bin
Click Update Firmware

All settings are retained when updating from v8. If you’re on v7 or lower, I’d recommend flashing fresh.
These forums are pretty slow, so feel free to log any issues on the GitHub repo instead.
